MEET LUMBIE
Lumbie Mlambo is a Computer Science and Mathematics graduate from Indiana University South Bend and Texas Woman’s University. She is an enthusiastic supporter of clean water and giving women and girls the tools they need to live healthy, productive lives. She is also a philanthropist and a Global Goals Ambassador. She was raised in a rural area of Zimbabwe, Africa, where she attended school until the sixth grade before relocating to the inner city of Bulawayo to finish high school.
Inspired by her orphaned father who never went to school but served as a revered humanitarian in his local community, Lumbie took the leap to continue her father’s legacy. As a result of her dedicated actions in serving the community’s needs, she started the 501(c)(3) nonprofit JB Dondolo, after her father’s namesake.
As a UN advocate and strong supporter of the United Nations Global Goals, Lumbie makes her voice heard about the issues impacting women and girls globally, sharing her insights and knowledge on how such issues can be addressed.
Lumbie is a proud volunteer of several initiatives, including Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Competition as Judge, Tony Elumelu Foundation as Hub Lead, New Era Youth for Africa (NEYA) as Matron/Patron, Accelerate Africa as their Advisor, and a volunteer with Rotary International. She also takes pride in the opportunities she has had to speak at the University of Arizona Forbes School of Business and Technology Center for Women’s Leadership, the World Water Day, United Nations Association – USA Dallas International Women’s Day, World Digital Weeks, 90 Minutes in Africa TV segment, SHE-UNLEASHED, The State of Women “Amplifying Her Voice”, Women Dialogues, Girl Scouts of America, Innovators Box, X Genesis, European Technology Chamber, Women in Technology, Lady Americas Power, and HerStory Circle.
